Look For Your Sign

"I signed my offer letter, Scott!"

This was the text I received from someone who deserves a new opportunity, who has been passed over on the corporate ladder, and who will shine in the spotlight of a new environment.

This individual had been with their current organization for over a decade. While they switched roles several times in that span, they were ready for something new. I couldn't be more excited for them — and frankly, everyone deserves this level of excitement and joy in their career.

It's easy to get passed up. It's easy to feel like your spark is gone. After all, we're a product of our environment, and if our environment isn't building us up, why would we feel like our best?

Sometimes you stay too long. Not because you're lazy. Not because you're not capable of change. But because you've convinced yourself that loyalty will eventually be rewarded, that patience will pay off, and that one day someone will finally see how much you've been carrying.

And when that day doesn't come, it chips away at you. Slowly. Quietly. Until you don't even recognize the version of you that used to be hungry for more.

This person finally said enough. They stopped waiting. They stopped hoping someone would pull them aside and say, "Hey, it's your turn now." They realized that the only person who was going to hand them the next opportunity was themselves. And when that shift happens — when you go from waiting to choosing — you don't just get a new job. You get your power back.

There's always a tiny voice asking if you made the right move. But then there's this other feeling, the one underneath all the fear and anxiety. It's called freedom. And freedom always feels a little reckless at first. Until you remember what it's like to dream again.

I hope you get to feel that one day, if you haven't already. Not just the "I got a new job" kind of joy, but the full-body yes that comes from stepping into something aligned, something new, something yours.

I hope you get to wake up and feel proud again. Not tolerated. Not overlooked. But seen, valued, and lit up from the inside out.

So if you're reading this and you're still waiting for a sign, this is it. If someone who spent over a decade in the same place can say yes to something new, so can you. Your next chapter doesn't need to wait for the right sign or the right time — it just needs to happen.
