Boring People Get You Nowhere

Don't surround yourself with boring people.

Boring people suck. They get you nowhere. They're dead inside. For God's sake, hang around people who have a pulse, who have opinions, who have ideas, who are passionate about life and the future, and who are not afraid of taking big swings.

Boring people are so miserable to be around because they have no emotions that are going to jolt you in a direction. You'll never end up with super awesome stories to tell during a night out with a boring person. Life is built on stories, interactions, moments, laughs, experiences, and more. It's not built on playing the safe road where nothing great happens.

When you surround yourself with boring people, you never reimagine what the world could look like around you. When you spend time with boring people, your world shrinks. You start second-guessing your wild ideas. You tone down your personality. You stop chasing things that light you up because you're too busy keeping the peace in a room full of people who are more focused on not rocking the boat than they are on making waves.

You need people who challenge your thoughts, not just nod along. You need someone to call you out, to hype you up, to send you unhinged texts at 11pm with a half-baked business idea. Those are the people who remind you that you're alive. That you're not stuck. That life still has juice in it.

This Is About Your Career Too

Vanilla people live in loops. Same job, same routine, same surface-level conversations over and over again until one day they wake up and wonder where all their ambition went. Don't let that be you. If you hang around people with no curiosity, no opinions, and no edge, guess what happens? You lose yours, too.

You want to grow? You want to do something bold with your life? Then stop hanging out with people who have zero desire to be anything more than comfortable. Surround yourself with weirdos, with misfits, with people who live a little too loud and dream a little too big.

And this isn't just about your social life — it's about your career. If you surround yourself with boring professionals, the ones who show up, check the boxes, and never question the status quo, you'll slowly become one of them. You'll stop pitching bold ideas because no one else does. You'll stop chasing growth because everyone around you settled years ago.

Your network is your net worth, but not in the cheesy LinkedIn way. I'm talking about the energy you absorb. The courage you borrow. The wild ideas that come from the people around you daring to ask, "Why not you?"

You want to go further in your career? Hang out with people who move fast. Who think differently. Who scare you a little with how boldly they live. Because if the people around you are playing small, you'll unconsciously shrink to match them. But if you start hanging with the ambitious ones, you'll start swinging too.

Stay allergic to vanilla. Choose the chaos. Choose the color. Boring might feel safe, but it's a slow death.
